The Diocese of Central Newfoundland is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada. Our Diocese was formed in 1975 as part of a restructuring of the original organization, the Diocesan Synod of Newfoundland (1873). Consent was given by General Synod to divide the original organization into 3 separate dioceses, Central, Eastern and Western.
The Central Diocese encompasses a large geographical area of the island portion of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Our boundaries extend west to Badger in the Parish of Buchans, we include the south coast of Newfoundland both south to the Parish of Harbour Breton and all of the Burin Peninsula. Our eastern boundaries extend to the Parish of St. Mary’s, Clarenville, then north to Bonavista and that area on the northeast coast as far as the two parishes located on Fogo Island. A list of the parishes and associated churches can be found on the parishes page of this website.
Like most faith communities, in the Diocese of Central Newfoundland we are working toward deeper understandings of what it means to be a an active and vibrant faith community in the midst of great Cultural and Spiritual change. Our ongoing work includes a focus on what it means to be sustainable and missional.
We are generous in outreach, inclusive in welcoming, and are avid students of discipleship. As you browse the website you will find all sorts of resources for administration, education, study, and spiritual development.
In Central Newfoundland you will discover Anglican Church Women (ACW), Licensed Lay Ministry (LLM), Cursillo , spiritual direction children and youth camps, Christian education, university chaplaincy, outreach, social justice, stewardship, The Anglican Church of Canada and a desire to provide pathways for each person who is called to ministry.

in response to the Love of God is called
to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ
by worship and sacrament, by word and action,

Following Jesus we are led to be a Servant community which ministers and witnesses in the world to the transforming power of God’s love.
We respectfully acknowledge the land on which we gather as the as the unceded, ancestral homelands of the Beothuk and traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq. We also acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Mi’kmaq, Innu, Inuit and Southern Inuit of this province. In Newfoundland and Labrador Indigenous people still face many barriers on a daily basis. We urge all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to educate themselves and others about the history of Indigenous people within the province and seek to address the challenges that Indigenous peoples still live through. We recognize the benefits we receive by living on this land that is traditional territory of Indigenous people, and acknowledge our need to learn what our presence has cost first peoples. We commit to unbiased learning through respectful listening to cultural teachings, wisdom and stories offered in hope of community, reconciliation and justice, sharing a common hope that all barriers will be recognized and broken, and the rights of the Mi’kmaq, Innu, Inuit, and Southern Inuit of this province can be upheld and respected.
May we dwell on this land with respect and peace.
